"Like" us on Facebook!

I am SUCH a bad blogger! I have had the hardest time keeping up with it the past few months. Check out my fan page for my most recent albums. I'll get caught up on the blog once the Christmas portrait rush fizzles out.

Introducing Baby Janilah!

Janilah is such a sweetheart! She's got a modeling career ahead of her, that's for sure. She did so well in front of the camera. She stayed content no matter what we made her wear or what position we put her in. I can't wait to take more pictures of her as she grows up to be a beautiful young lady. Welcome to the world Janilah!

Sammi | Class of 2011

Sammi and I finally got our schedules to match up...for about 20 minutes. We have another session set up, but here is a sneak peek from our first mini-session. We drove around to a couple of random places on the side of the road and to the railroad tracks. Sammi is so fun to be around and I look forward to our real session!

Alex | Sneak Peek

A friend of mine from high school is getting into the music business and asked me to take some pictures of him for advertisment purposes. We spent the morning at the park and then ended up back at the school to play on the playground and to take pictures with my couch. Thanks again Casey for letting me store it in your room. Good luck on your music career, Alex...don't forget me when you're famous!

Asa | 6 Months

While I was in Virginia, I was reunited with Asa. He was all ready for his 6 month photoshoot! He is definitely not camera shy, that's for sure. What a cutie! This was his first time ever being in the grass..it was certainly a new and exciting experience for him. I got another chance to photograph him with his siblings a couple of weeks later, which I will set up in its on post.

Fire Rainbow

I was on my way to Virginia in July and saw this gorgeous rainbow, but it was weird. It wasn't arched like all other rainbows I've ever seen. It was horizontal and it also lasted for about 2 hours, continually changing. I've never seen anything like it. I was told that it is a fire rainbow. I looked it up on google and this is the definition I got:

A circumhorizontal arc (sometimes called a 'fire rainbow') is an optical phenomenon - an ice-halo formed by plate shaped ice crystals in high level cirrus clouds.

The current accepted technical names are circumhorizon arc or Lower symmetric 46° plate arc[1]. The complete halo is a huge, multi-coloured band running parallel to the horizon with its center beneath the sun. The distance below the sun is twice as far as the common 22-degree halo. Red is the uppermost colour. Often, when the halo forming cloud is small or patchy, only fragments of the arc are seen.

Formation of the halo requires that the sun be very high in the sky, at an elevation of 58° or more, and that the cirrus cloud or haze contains plate-shaped ice crystals. The sun's altitude determines the visibility of the halo; it is impossible to see at locations north of 55°N or south of 55°S (although a lunar circumhorizon arc might be visible). At other latitudes it is visible for a greater or lesser time around the summer solstice.

I am so grateful that I was able to see and photograph this phenomenon. It was quite amazing. Here are some of the pictures that I took of it.
